A wonderfully concise journey through pieces which bring the piano and the cello close to each other. From the “left-hand” figuration of Bach’s G major suite to the tenor line in Chopin’s Etude in C-sharp minor. The culmination is Piatigorsky’s arrangement of Stravinsky’s Suite Italienne, from Pulcinella’s ballet, infused with the early baroque tunes of Pergolesi, a great passion of Diaghilev. The young award-winning Italian duo is best placed to showcase their fresh take on this eclectic set of works.
Programme:
J. S. Bach From the cello Suite no. 1 in G major BWV 1007 – Prelude, Sarabande, Gigue
L. V. Beethoven 7 Variations On ‘bei Männer welche Liebe fühlen’, from The Magic Flute, WoO 46
F. Chopin Etude in C-sharp minor Op.25 n.7
