The German violinist is joined by Fidelio’s founder Raffaello Morales for a concert centred around Schubert’s fantasy. This was the last piece Schubert wrote for violin and piano and differently from most of Schubert’s late compositions, it shows very little hint of the emotional landscape of dread that the composer was experiencing at the time, with illness advancing and the feeling that his days were numbered. On the programme are also Beethoven’s much celebrated spring sonata, one of  the early examples of pastoral music that will be very popular in the nineteenth century, and Fratres by Estonian minimalist composer Arvo Pärt.

Programme:

L. van Beethoven Violin sonata in F major op. 24 ‘Spring’
A. Pärt Fratres (version for violin and piano)
F. Schubert Fantasy in C major for violin and piano D934

Johanna Röhrig, violin
Raffaello Morales, piano

Menu: to be announced two weeks before the concert
