For this concert she is joined by pianist and regular collaborator Simon Callaghan. Beethoven’s Kreutzer Sonata is considered the peak of violin repertoire and associated with a very dramatic period of the composer’s life. Similarly, Janáček wrote his only violin sonata as the First World War was starting and everything the composer could hear in his head was ‘the sound of steel clashing….’.
