Winner of the 2018 Leeds Competition, Eric Lu has established a name internationally as few others in the piano world. His dedication to the purest musical intentions makes his recitals sound like first meetings with the composers. For his first appearance at Fidelio he has chosen the lyricism of Bach’s Capriccio and Handel’s E major suite and Chopin’s last piano sonata, the piece that shows how comfortable the polish genius could be with classical forms, whilst retaining full control on his most personal style.
Programme:
Bach Capriccio on beloved brother BWV 922
Handel Suite in E major HWV430
Mendelssohn Songs without words Op. 19 No. 1, Op. 102 No. 5, Op. 38 No. 2, Op. 5 No. 4
